1 week to transfer deadline, how have we done?
How do you think we've done with a week to go?

On paper we have brought in 2 quality players and I think the vast majority of us are excited to see them playing. So great job done here by all concerned.

Compared to the rest of the Premiership our net spend is 10th at present. It seems no big transfers are coming in and you can bet a few of the other Premier ship teams will spend big in the next week, so our net spend is likely to drop to the bottom half. So are we falling behind the rest of the Premier?

Have we got better as a team this off-season, I think Haller and Fornals make us better for sure, Yarmolenko and Lanzini should almost be like new players to us after missing most of last season. So yeah we have to be better than last year in my view (injuries permitting!)

Lastly squad depth. I think is not so good, if we lose Haller we are screwed, if we lose Declan we'll struggle and i think we can say that in a few other positions.

So how do you lot think we have done?

Newcastle just signed Jetro Williams.

And Ashley is the worst owner in the league?

Pellegrini wants a CB...
Most on here ( Sir Alf etc) want a DFM...

Get both...!!!

Re: 1 week to transfer deadline, how have we done?
Perez was rated pretty fairly.

He had 3 league goals, 2 of which came playing with Hernandez up front, who was dragging Cardiff around mercilessly. Did okay again playing there when Hernandez scored the double against Huddersfield.

Haller looks exactly the sort of striker that we need. No idea about Fornals.

Stubbo, bang on about keeping Perez. Quite aside from being cheaper than Chich, he was very underated by a lot of us despite not having a bad record when coming from the bench.

It looks like we've replaced Arnie but not Perez.

Fredericks was in the training pictures that came out.

No Reid Noble or Fabianski (a young keeper Jinadu? is very clearly there)

Being combined into one quick, leader of player that always has a scowl on his face.

Noble dead leg
Fredericks groin strain
Reid being brought back slowly

Remember we have to ship more out before we can bring multiple in. No current squad space for more than 1

If we get striker, CB and DFM then I will have to go with an A.

If we end up with what we have got I will go B-

"Sullivan ain't going to sell up, why do you think he's got the boy running the women's side of it? So he can get in the fold of what's required to run the whole thing and limit the fuck ups using the women set up to learn from any fuck ups."

That thought crossed my mind.

"To the original question Id give our window a B+ thus far."

Id say C+ potentially B+, if they bring in two more excellent players or 3 very good players.

Half the league now are spending just as much or more on than us.

To the original question Id give our window a B+ thus far.

We've got rid of a load of shit that was stinking out the squad, brought in and strengthened 2 quality first XI players including the nemesis of an appropriate top level striker, and deepened (if not strengthened) the goalkeeping slots.

I'd agree with most we're a couple players short (a striker and energetic box to box midfield foil for Rice), and we have a couple of squad areas that coud do with the current incumbents being replaced for better (Ogbonna, Reid, Sanchez).

If I could realistically change one thing that happened, Id have kept Perez and got rid of Chicharito. They fulfill the same role in the squad (back up striker/penalty box poacher), but Chicharito is twice as expensive on the wages front, and would have commanded a higher sale price to bolster the funds for further acquisitions.

How long until those fuckers can sell the club without giving away a chunk?

Re: 1 week to transfer deadline, how have we done?
I have a feeling there's another player to come in (besides that septic if we sort out his permit) who is a bit under the radar.

I'll be very disappointed if there isn't one more decent player coming in. We simply can't rely on players like Wilshire and Read (maybe Cresswell?) who must now be seen as 'an added bonus when fit'.

Add in the two long-term injuries we will inevitably suffer (this is West Ham for fuck sake) and we're going to look very short at LB, DM and up front.

Re: 1 week to transfer deadline, how have we done?
All the SPIVS are trying to do. Is to polish us up the best (And cheapest.) They can. Then get the biggest bucks they can. When they can get 100% return on the club and stadium. They won’t push for top four in regards of squad size and players fees. (Although this season may be the best chance to break into the top six stranglehold.) But they will do enough so we don’t end up like Newcastle.
